Child care centers in Massachusetts are at a breaking point.

Pandemic-era grants ran out in September and now, without that funding, centers are struggling to stay open.

Advocates are pushing for permanent government funding, otherwise child care centers could be forced to close, impacting hundreds of thousands of children across the state.

About 200,000 children are in child care programs in Massachusetts.

It's already hard enough for parents to foot the bill, many paying upwards of $30,000 to $40,000 for tuition.

Centers themselves are struggling to pay and retain staff to stay afloat.
