New study finds Massachusetts is the most expensive state to raise a child - WJAR
Raising a child is no bargain, but a new study finds Massachusetts parents are spending more than anyone else in the country.
Consumer Affairs recently examined the cost of parenthood across the country.
They found that the yearly cost of raising a child in Massachusetts is almost double the national average.
“Unfortunately, raising a child in Massachusetts costs an average of $28,000 annually, making it the most expensive state to raise a child," said Brooklyn Bannister, a media relations specialist for ConsumerAffairs. “In comparison, the national average of raising a child in the U.S. is about $15,800."
