“Tragically on 9/18/2018, Mr. Cook’s lost the mother of his two children to suicide and he later obtained full custody of his children. Prior to Covid-19 Mr. Cook has been employed and provides solely for his children without any public assistance. The Children are enrolled at Central Square After School Program at East Boston Social Centers (EBSOC) Inc. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) has been involved with the family because of neglect, and her history with drugs, alcohol, and mental health. Mr. Cooks has expressed how grateful he is, to be involved with EBSOC not only as a resource but also with the additional support and after-school services in place, he is able to work full time. Having an open DCF case allows Mr. Cook’s the opportunity to get free Child Care until the case closes and an additional year when it does.”
