“I have been in the childcare/early ed field for three years now. I started working in the field because I like to help in any way I can. Education is a very important topic that only some may have the privilege to access. There will always be a handful of children that are harder to work with but that is the biggest lesson and obstacle I have learned and have been able to overcome. Having patience is key. Knowing that not every child will be the same or will learn at the same pace. Children do not easily remember things and that is something we must keep in mind. There are also many problems in the system I have always wanted to change. The school system now is more based on memory and standardized tests to see if students will pass. A test does not determine one’s intelligence. Students now mainly memorize what they need to for the moment but once moving onto another topic it does not stick to them. Tests should continue to be done but not as often. A test score can’t determine one’s knowledge. Teaching should be more hands-on and have more visuals so the information we teach can stick.

Children will have more access and it will be equal for everyone to have a fair chance to learn. Lawmakers and policymakers should have more ways for us to see the children at least online to continue teaching them.

My main concern with not being able to see the children as often is that the lessons won’t stick. Being consistent will help in so many ways and seeing them less and less will be harder on the teachers and the students.”
