“Our biggest issue at the moment is that we cannot find staff to hire. The staff that we have are getting burned out because they work so many hours to cover other shifts. We used to have lots of student teachers work at the center and that would also help with staffing numbers, but we aren’t seeing student teachers at all. We think the reason might be that people are turning to other careers where they can make more money. We have a long waiting list, especially for infants and toddlers, but need more staff to care for more children. Some families have been waiting for more than a year. I think better wages would definitely help attract more people back to the field. “
