Zaira T. - Provider

Translated from Spanish:

I am a childcare provider for Everett Massachusetts for the past 3 years. My biggest passion is the education for early head start, emotional stability and well being. My purpose daily is to form human beings with values, principles and discipline. That could be the next Doctor, Lawyers, Police or even the President of the United States. In order to follow my dreams I’ve come across alot of barriers. One of them and it me the most important is the change of pay when the children become 2 years of age. One day to the next the pay decreases 40% this forces me to dismiss older children and only care for those 2 and under of age and continue to have my program available. The capability of my license is limited. The costs continue regardless that the rent is high and doesn’t go down. The services continue and the food also has gone up. I have to pay the assistant the same pay without a raise. When having to dismiss families they are affected because we have created a trusting relationship and now they must look for another provider especially the children because most of them have been in my daycare since they were infants. The family, I and the child suffer have in time created a bond of safety and the parents are sacrificed that the children are in good hands. This creates emotional stability to be confident with love to be able to grow safe and happy.

We can’t play with the lives of these children like they are a ball from one place to another, without asking or thinking how they feel. They are the most important and the future for us. Having a salary that doesn’t change with help us keep the children until it is time to move on with their education. And be able to fly with their own wings. I hope we are heard and get the help needed to continue nice work with better quality. Thank you good Day.
