“This will be my third year working in the Early Childcare program. I started educating and learning when I got accepted into the program at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational High School. In the beginning I dealt with not having enough confidence to be able to tell a child no and not having a voice as teacher. I often waited for other people to raise their voice rather than mine. There are so many things in this system that need to be fixed but the first step should be Early Childcare for every child. When my sister had to work and she needed to find a Child Care so that she wouldn't have to depend on her friends to babysit, she couldn't find one that had a good program but also was affordable. Mothers shouldn't have to be stressed about that; that should be something that is right away a given choice. My mother was a teen mom herself too and she struggled but was lucky enough to have supporting parents to help but what if she didn't? We need to put our minds together and think about the future of this career field. It truly could excel beyond imagination and this is the perfect career field for imagination.”
